Guardianship

Guardianship for your children

A lot us first think about Wills when we start a family, and have that awful thought that if we die whilst they are young, who will take care of them?

Whoever you appoint, it is important that you have the right balance with the correct appointment of executors and trustees, since it is they who will be controlling the purse strings when you’re not around. For instance it is the trustees who will have ‘powers of advancement’ to be able to filter monies through to you for your children’s benefit. Having appointed guardians, you won’t want them to be out of pocket as a consequence of taking onboard the responsibility.

What can you do about it?

Transferring your house and savings into a Family Protection Trust can protect them from this happening but we will need to assess your personal situation very carefully to make sure this is suitable. Contact us now to arrange an initial discuss.
