Rob Abell MIPW ACMA
Estate Planning Consultant
I qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1987 and worked in industry until 2006 when I planned the change of direction into Will-writing and Estate Planning. There are more similarities between the two than you might think; both demand highly analytical skills and good subject knowledge. I have to say that I enjoy my second career far more than my first; every client is a new challenge because we’re all so different!
My key strength is communicating on personal level and being able to explain your options in plain English, something you may be won’t get with a solicitor? Twenty years ago I remember my own solicitor asking me what I wanted? My answer was a Will, what else? I didn’t know there were options. Most of us don’t know either. Now things are different and with life getting more complicated by the decade, I want to share my knowledge with my clients for their benefit too.
I am a full member of the Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW), my company is compliant with its Code of Practice, which in turn is approved and regulated by the Office of Fair Trading under its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. We carry £2 million pounds of Professional Indemnity Insurance for your protection and mine, and we take pride in delivering a first class professional service.
In 2009 I was elected by the members to join the Council of the IPW to make a contribution to its future and whilst this has been a hard one to grasp, it has been a superb learning curve for me personally and I hope that have made a positive impression.
The bottom line. I treat every appointment as if I was advising my own parents. In other words, what is in their best interests? Whether clients take my advice is simply down to their decision, at least they have made a choice based on sound logic and reasoning, and I am always happy to oblige.
All Work and no play? I’m afraid not, I am a family man, married with two teenage daughters so I am well out numbered, this give me the perfect excuse to escape either playing Tennis, Cycling and on occasions Windsurfing.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. Please take great care chosing who writes your Will.
